Setting Course for Kapapahuliau

During the summer solstice weekend in June—a time of heightened energy, growth, and renewal—crew members of ʻOhana Waʻa from across the pae ʻāina came together in the beautiful ʻāina of Waiaka, Waimea to officially launch Kapapahuliau. This five-year initiative, rooted in our voyaging traditions, is designed to strengthen climate resilience and cultural continuity across our waʻa communities.

Our strategic planning hālāwai set the course for Year 1—organizing roles, aligning shared values, and imagining what learning, storytelling, and stewardship could look like across our four focus areas: waʻa, kai, uka, and meaʻai for each waʻa and the moku they call home.

Mahalo nui to all who contributed to a weekend full of pilina, purpose, and possibility!
