As one ʻohana across all our islands, we have always come together to support the individual canoe communities that make up ʻOhana Waʻa when there is need. The support and generosity for our Maui ʻohana via this website after the devastating August 2023 wildfires has been heart lifting for that community to experience and for all of ʻOhana Waʻa to witness. Donations and messages from across the world remind us that we are not isolated in the middle of the Pacific; the ocean continues to connect us. 

 

This funding platform was always meant to be temporary, with funds donated here to be used for short-term relief efforts toward the health of the broader Lahaina voyaging community, as that community decided its direction and where resources should flow. Your donations have exceeded our hopes, and will continue to be used for Lahaina resident recovery and community building. Please return to this space for updates on how these funds are being and have been used to help support the community re-arising within its vision, while actively maintaining its integral part of the voyaging community.
